The UT San Antonio School of Dentistry invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair, Department of Periodontics. We seek an accomplished clinician-scientist with a strong record of excellence in clinical care, research and academic leadership to guide a dynamic department within a leading academic health center.
The Chair will provide strategic vision, administrative leadership, and operational oversight for all aspects of the department, including the integrated dental hygiene education and practice, advancing department missions in education, patient care, research, and community service.

DDS/DMD (or equivalent) and completion of a CODA-accredited advance education program in periodontics.
American Board of Periodontology certified.
Demonstrated leadership as a clinician-scientist, with sustained scholarly productivity and successful research portfolio.
Academic credentials commensurate with appointment at the rank of Professor with Tenure.
Experience of 10 or more years of leadership in an academic institution, demonstrating multiple programmatic successes.
Demonstrated excellence in mentoring faculty, residents, and students at a dental school.
Eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; administrative, and financial management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience fostering interdisciplinary and translational research.
