Registered Dental Hygienist - Find Your Perfect Balance at El Rio Health
Where Meaningful Work Meets Personal Fulfillment
At El Rio Health, we understand that exceptional patient care comes from professionals who feel supported and valued. As Arizona’s largest community health center, we’ve built a culture where dental hygienists can pursue meaningful work while maintaining personal wellbeing.
Our cultural beliefs guide everything we do. “I Matter” means your voice is heard in clinical decisions and quality improvement initiatives. “Break Boundaries” reflects our collaborative approach where you’ll work with medical providers, nurses, and specialists to deliver integrated care that addresses patients’ complete health needs.
A practice environment that supports you:
Your role offers variety that prevents burnout while expanding your skills. Some days you’ll provide traditional dental hygiene services in our modern clinics, other times you might participate in community outreach events or work in integrated medical settings. This diversity keeps work engaging while allowing you to make a broader impact.
You’ll deliver dental prophylaxis, apply fluoride treatments and sealants, take diagnostic radiographs, and provide patient education on oral hygiene techniques. Working with our electronic health record system, you’ll maintain detailed documentation while participating in quality assurance programs that elevate care standards.
Team collaboration at its best:
You’ll work alongside dentists, dental assistants, and dental receptionists in a professional, cooperative environment. Our integrated model means you’ll also collaborate with medical providers, enhancing communication about patients’ oral health needs and contributing to their overall wellness.
Mentoring opportunities include supervising dental hygiene students and training dental assistants in coronal polishing techniques. These experiences not only contribute to the profession but also keep you engaged with the latest developments in dental hygiene practice.
What we’re looking for:
We seek a licensed Registered Dental Hygienist who values collaboration, patient-centered care, and professional growth. You should be comfortable working with diverse populations and committed to our mission of providing accessible healthcare to all who need it.
Benefits that support your life:
We invest in your total wellbeing. Medical, dental, and vision benefits start immediately, while our 403(b) plan begins with automatic 6% enrollment on day one. Employer contributions can reach 4.5% of your salary, building your financial security.
Health Savings Account contributions of up to $2,600 annually support your family’s medical needs. Life insurance coverage up to $500,000 and disability benefits protect against unexpected challenges. Our Employee Assistance Program provides confidential counseling support.
Start your balanced career with an organization that values both clinical excellence and personal fulfillment.
Your Skills. Our Mission. Lasting Impact.
For over 50 years, El Rio Health has been Arizona’s healthcare safety net, providing care regardless of ability to pay, insurance status, or immigration status. We serve over 128,000 patients annually who often have nowhere else to turn for dental care. We’re seeking a dedicated Registered Dental Hygienist who shares our commitment to accessible, quality oral healthcare for all.
Your work will make a real difference in the lives of patients facing significant barriers to dental care. You’ll provide culturally sensitive services to diverse populations, addressing everything from routine preventive care to complex periodontal conditions while working in traditional clinics, integrated medical sites, and community outreach settings.
Making a difference every day:
As our Registered Dental Hygienist, you’ll deliver dental prophylaxis, apply fluoride treatments and sealants, perform periodontal scaling and root planing, and take diagnostic radiographs. Your patient education skills will help individuals understand the connection between oral health and overall wellness, particularly important for patients managing chronic conditions like diabetes.
You’ll work with patients across all age groups, from prenatal oral health education to geriatric care. Your expertise in motivational interviewing and behavior change techniques will help patients develop sustainable oral hygiene habits despite challenging life circumstances.
Collaborative care approach:
Our Patient Centered Medical Home model means you’ll work closely with physicians, nurses, behavioral health specialists, and community health workers. This collaboration ensures patients receive care that addresses both their oral health needs and the social determinants that impact their overall wellbeing.
You’ll supervise dental hygiene students and train dental assistants, contributing to the next generation of oral health professionals while expanding access to care in underserved communities.
Clinical excellence in service:
Your responsibilities include maintaining accurate electronic health records, participating in quality assurance programs, and adhering to all safety and infection control protocols. You’ll work with both permanent and portable equipment, adapting to various clinical environments while maintaining the highest standards of care.
Who we’re looking for:
We seek a licensed Registered Dental Hygienist with a passion for serving underserved populations. Experience with diverse communities and challenging clinical situations is valued. Most importantly, we want someone who embodies our cultural beliefs of stepping up, breaking boundaries, and always honoring patients first.
Meaningful benefits for meaningful work:
We believe in caring for those who care for others. Your benefits include immediate medical, dental, and vision coverage with three plan options. Our 403(b) retirement plan starts with automatic 6% enrollment on day one, plus employer contributions up to 4.5% of your salary.
Health Savings Account contributions of $1,300-$2,600 annually help offset medical expenses, while life insurance coverage up to $500,000 protects your family’s future. Our Employee Assistance Program offers confidential counseling support.
