The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks an Office Staff Coordinator to join the Division of Periodontology. The Division of Periodontology provides dental service to the community for all of their periodontal needs, and its periodontal faculty, graduate students and staff provide high quality patient care for the citizens of Ohio by offering a full range of periodontal procedures which include scaling and root planning (deep cleaning), soft tissue grafting (gum grafts), bone grafting (to treat periodontal disease), implant surgery (for the replacement of teeth) and a wide variety of other periodontal procedures, such as treatment of gummy smiles.
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.
Reporting to the clinic director, the Office Staff Coordinator manages resident clinic schedules; schedules and confirms patient appointments; provides information to patients; supervises clinic staff (front desk; dental assistants) and assists clinic director with day-to-day clinic operations; distributes workload; ensures timely and accurate customer service; assists in the development of goals; assesses performance and progress; promotes teamwork; creates and maintains documentation; communicates and implements college policies; corresponds and communicates with operations and finance managers, develops and maintains objectives for clinic operations; provides suggestions for production goals; creates, improves and implements policies and procedures, and related activities. Types routine correspondence, mails materials, organizes patient charts; performs general provides office related duties for the efficient operation of the clinic. Facilitates and monitors practice management, including data entry, quarterly report creation from axiUm, databases and spreadsheets, and distribution to faculty and residents. Assists with clinical study participation/recruitment and the accreditation process for the Periodontal clinic and program. Manages all incident reports and patient complaints to resolve customer issues. Provides training to clinic employees and residents on clinic operations, policies and procedures.
Pay Range
$17.74 - $23.65/hour determined by applicable experience and education.

Position Requirements
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
Required: High school diploma and/or GED. Four (4) years of office and/or operations experience including general office support, monitoring and processing budget and accounting information, providing customer service; experience in staff supervision, training and development.
Desired: Associate degree preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 3-5 years experience and knowledge of dental scheduling. 2 years of supervisory experience or equivalent training and knowledge. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make timely decisions. Strong attention to detail. Excellent customer service skills.
Physical Requirements Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions. This position requires sustained periods using a keyboard and performing other computer work. Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
