The University of Illinois Chicago, College of Dentistry invites applications from senior Periodontics educators for a full-time, tenured position as Associate Professor/Professor and Head of the Department of Periodontics.
The successful candidate will provide vision and leadership as well as management and administrative support of the department’s predoctoral, postgraduate/graduate and research programs and maintain its reputation as a nationally and internationally recognized center of education, research, and service.
The Department educates dental students and postgraduate specialty students in the discipline of Periodontics and conducts a rigorous research program with active intramural and extramural funding. The Department collaborates with members of other departments on interdisciplinary patient care and educational programs for predoctoral and postgraduate students, including well-established programs in implant dentistry. The College's Department Heads function as a collaborative leadership team to ensure the ongoing integration of these programs.
The College is located in one of the most comprehensive academic health science centers in the U. S. that includes a Comprehensive Cancer Center, Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, College of Medicine, College of Applied Health Sciences, School of Public Health, Bioengineering program, School of Nursing and College of Pharmacy.
The candidate must have earned a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree, have completed an advanced education program in Periodontics, be eligible for licensure in Illinois, and have a substantial record of scholarship, clinical experience, and effective teaching. The preferred candidate will have a PhD or advanced training in research, previous management experience, and have or be eligible for Diplomate status of the American Board Periodontology. The preferred candidate will have experience such as leadership in teaching, mentoring, research, service, and evidence of building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
