Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position, term appointment, at the level of assistant, associate or professor in the Department of Periodontics. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
The faculty member will have clinical and didactic teaching responsibilities within in the undergraduate dental hygiene program, and the predoctoral and postgraduate programs of the Department of Periodontics, to include development, delivery, and management of departmental curricular offerings. Participation in faculty practice, student mentoring, research, and dentistry-related community service activities will be strongly encouraged.
Required Qualifications:
DDS or DMD or equivalent degree
Certificate in Advanced Education in Periodontics from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
Board Certification or eligible for certification by the American Board of Periodontology
Eligibility for Virginia dental licensure
Experience in teaching clinical and didactic periodontics as a trainee or faculty member
Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and embrace modern educational and clinical technologies in dentistry
Demonstrated desire to mentor future dental/periodontal providers, which may include research advising
A well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multidisciplinary applications (for applicants seeking tenure-eligible status)
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (MS, MSD, or PhD)
Existing extramurally-funded research program
Education and/or experience in digital scanning and 3-D printing, laser technology, and multiple implant systems used in periodontal practice
