The University of Louisville School of Dentistry invites qualified applicants for a full-time, open rank, faculty position as Program Director for the Graduate Program in Periodontics within the Division of Periodontics, Department of Diagnosis and Oral Health. We are interested in a dynamic and focused team leader who, with the current young and vibrant Periodontics faculty, will build upon solid educational foundations to forward the mission of the Department and the School.
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated clinical excellence through their previous research, teaching, and service activities. Proven commitment to leadership roles in dental education with national and emerging international prominence and previous experience in teaching didactic, clinical, and preclinical periodontics is preferred. The position calls for an experienced and mature mentor with recognized interpersonal skills who can provide an evidence-based approach to the team-centered clinic education and care.
Responsibilities: The selected individual will have primary responsibilities in the recruitment, training and supervision of postgraduate students specializing in periodontics as the program director for the Advanced Education Program in Periodontics. It is expected that the Residency Program Director will provide leadership in strategic planning, curriculum management, financial responsibility and must ensure that the program complies with the programmatic requirements as laid out by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Specific duties will include didactic and clinical education of postgraduate students, management of clinical staff, as well as clinical supervision of patient care. Expectations include the development of congenial working relations with students, staff, and faculty.
Qualified applicants must have a Certificate in Periodontics from a CODA-accredited institution, must be Board certified by the America Board of Periodontology and must hold a D.D.S./D.M.D. or equivalent degree eligible for a dental license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
